This summer of 2022 I got to see the Gateway Arch National Park for the third time. The last time I was there was the summer of 2015 and it was called Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. The Park turned to a National Park in 2018.
This trip was different experience. We got to do three things around the park. Where we got off the bus we walk along a walkway to the Arch. Nice views of th Arch from a far.
We walked to the visitor center and got our tickets for the activities. They do have check in by putting your bag and stuff on a moving belt and go through to get scan.
#1 – We walked through the new museum.
The group of us got to see a movie called Monument to the Dream. The story talks about the building of the Arch. The Arch is 630 feet in height. The construction of the Arch started in 2/12/1963 and it ended 10/28/1965. In the movie they showed the workers working on the Arch with no protection holding them. It looked scary but interesting movie.
#2 – The group went to the south side of the Arch. You wait in line for the tram. It seats five people. It takes the tram 4 minutes to go up to the top and 3 minutes to go back down. When we were there for our time, half of the top was closed. We got to look out half of the 32 windows to see St. Louis and Illinois. It was pretty cool to see.
After the lookout the group broke up to do our own thing for awhile. My mom and me looked around outside and saw the Old Courthouse (which was closed this visit but will open in a few years), and we also saw a statue of Dred and Harriet Scott. They sued for and won their freedom at this Courthouse.
Here was a view of the Arch from the Courthouse.
#3 – We got back with the group and went on a steamboat ride that goes down the Mississippi River. Amazing views. (more about the steamboat on a other post)

Wow! Missouri is now on my bucket list in the USA!
I love National Parks too! Each one of them is so unique! I have added this to my future list. Thanks for sharing!
This looks like a fun trip. I have never been to Missouri but want to definitely visit next time I am in the US 🙂

I love that middle pic you got of the Arch – it’s so artful!
I’ve only seen the bridge as we were driving through St. Louis…it’s even more impressive up close!
