On July 29, 2020, I went to the Grand Canyon for my third time. It was a nice and not crowded. This was during the COVID time so people weren’t out.
Me and my mom stayed at a Bed & Breakfast called Trapper’s Rendezvous in Williams, AZ. It was very cute and unique to stay at. They serve you breakfast in the morning in the dining room or at your cabin and also you can order breakfast to go. You would get food that you snack on. It’s a must place to check out. trappersaz.com It’s a couple of blocks away from downtown Williams and where you can pick up the train to the Grand Canyon. The shops are really cute to look at and there are some good restaurants to eat at.
From Williams to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon it takes about an hour drive. You will be in Grand Canyon Junction before you go to the entrance of the park. When we went there was a ranger looking at our park pass and gave us a flyer with a map of the canyon. We drove to the main visitor center and it was closed, but there was another store that was open. No stamps though.
From the visitor center there was a simple trail to see some of the rim. The trail is called Kaibab/Rim Route.
When we drove down the road there are a lot of different parking spots to park at. There is also a shuttle that you can take but it was not working when we went. There are different buildings to check out. Where we parked was near a grocery store and near the rest of the South Rim.
About the time we got ther in the parking lot the Grand Canyon Railroad just came up. We watch people get off. We walked up a ramp to a open area where there are some hotels, couple of stores, another visitor center which was open but no stamps.
We walked up and down the rim. It was beautiful. Love all the colors.
