Splendid Isolation: Big Bend
Here is me in front of the Big Bend sign.
For first stop in Big Bend beside the visitor center we went to Santa Elena Canyon. We had our lunch
and walked around. This is a pretty little place to hang around. This is part of the river. There is a
area where you put a boat in the river.
At one of the outlook there were some mountains called Mule Ear Mountains. It was pretty cool. They
do look like animal ears.
We walked along a trail called Sam Nail Ranch. We saw some windmills and some ruins.
Over the two nights we were there at the lodge we walked down a trail called Window View trail. On the first night we saw the mountains and then the second night we saw the sunset. It was very pretty colors of yellow.
When we were in the park we stayed at Chisos Mountains Lodge for a couple of nights. On one of the days we saw some roadrunner and deer. One one of day me and my dad when to a ranger talk at the visitor center. She talked about the different skulls that they have found.
On the way out of Big Bend we stop at a Fossil Discovery Exhibit. They have different fossils on display. It was pretty cool to see.
Here are the stamps. I went to all five visitor centers. Four out of the five visitor centers had the stamps.
